Curating Two Anthologies

Recently, I put out a call for two anthologies. The first, When the Base Goes Dark, is an anthology written by current and former military dependents. This is the last of my military-related charity anthologies. We haven’t signed a cause marketing agreement yet, but I have a charity in mind and hope to announce not only the charity but all our contributing authors very soon.

The second anthology represents eco-horror: Earth Resists and Reclaims. It is the first volume in my INEVITABLE series of anthologies. My background in environmental issues started as a Marine training in the contaminated waters of Camp Lejeune, NC, and eventually, I completed an undergraduate degree in Environmental Management (with honors, I might add). I am reviewing more than 200 submissions and will make the difficult decisions to finalize the anthology’s selections soon. So much talent! It’s a grueling process, but I love reading such amazing work.

You can read more about our previous anthologies and the donations for each at my publisher website Tundra Swan Press LLC.

Emerald Curse Second Edition

The Emerald Curse is getting a glow-up. You may have noticed it’s been removed from Barnes & Noble and will come off Amazon as well. The first edition was a short reader magnet, not meant to appear as the first in the series, but it really should have been. Due to its length, going with wide distribution was never an option. So, I have kept the original plot, but added much-needed character development, relationship depth, and of course, added more horror and fantasy elements throughout to better align with the series. The additions have made it a much more engaging read, a sizeable novella (or short novel as I’m not quite finished) that will flow to Secrets of Mother and Bound by Blood. Yes, Bound by Blood, the third book in the series, is also getting cranked out on the keyboard. Although, not nearly as soon as I had planned. Life gets in the way sometimes, but you’re going to love what’s coming. As is the case from Cristiane’s cursed pendant to her mother’s secrets revealed, Cristiane’s surroundings become darker with each story. Stay tuned!

I had the pleasure of co-editing the charity anthology, Don’t Ask, Ghosts Tell: An LGBTQ+ Horror Anthology, with Bram Stoker Award® winner and good friend, Vince A. Liaguno. All our authors represent the queer community and book proceeds support the Modern Military Association of America. To learn more about the charity, please see their website www.modernmilitary.org. Truths always catch up with us. There’s no denying it. Your senses heighten—as a presence lurks in the shadows, haunting your thoughts with every move. Knots form in your stomach from guilt, memories, or real horrors. Each moment is fraught with heaviness, zapping energy as your reflections pull toward whatever or whomever cowers in the shadows, ready to pounce at the slightest chance to claw at your soul.

The stories and poems in this anthology evoke powerful emotions across distinct perspectives and eras—plagued by terrors, misinterpretations, suffering, and lost love. Does hope linger when ghosts hold all the cards?

With stories and poetry by Amanda Dier, Amanda Nevada DeMel, Benjamin Larned, Christina Bergling, Darrell Z. Grizzle, Eric David Roman, G.B. Lindsey, J. Daniel Stone, John Grover, M. Edusa, Maxwell I. Gold, May Walker, Michael Thomas Ford, R.J.K. Lee, Rook Riley, Ryan Cole, Sara Tantlinger, Sean Eads, Sumiko Saulson, and Toshiya Kamei.

Proceeds from your purchase of this book go to the Modern Military Association of America, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Early Praise:

“The horror of serving those who deny you the most basic freedom – to be who you are – is the beating heart of this splendid anthology. By turns poetic, poignant, and genuinely unnerving, Don’t Ask, Ghosts Tell will haunt you.” —Lisa Morton, six-time Bram Stoker Award® winner

Don’t Ask, Ghosts Tell is a remarkably potent and devastating anthology—a consecrated purification of tender hearts bruised from the brutality of trauma and restless spirits aching to be exorcised.” —Eric LaRocca, author of Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke

The Haunted Zone: A Horror Anthology by Women Military Veterans wins The BookFest award for fiction – anthologies! I’m thrilled to have edited the anthology and collaborated with so many talented women veterans to make The Haunted Zone a reality.
